Work gear
MacBook Pro
Apple M2 Pro / 16-inch, 2023 / 16 GB
I’m not necessarily an Apple fanboy, but ever since I managed to save up enough money for a MacBook about 20 years ago, I’ve been sold. It just looks good and works really well.
Software
- Visual Studio Code: My go-to editor for getting code done
- Obsidian: Combined with sync, the most powerful note-taking app out there
- iTerm: A better terminal
- Chrome: Not the best browser, but the most convenient for development
- Vivaldi: Probably the best browser, just a bit less handy for development
- Adobe: Photoshop, Illustrator, and XD

Birding gear
Binoculars
Vortex Diamondback HD 10×42
Replacing my previous binoculars. Although this is just an entry-level model, the difference in quality compared to my old pair is huge. It’s crystal clear, easy to handle, and comes with a nice carrying case.
Scope
Vortex Viper HD 20-60×85
What a joy to have a good scope when you see some far away bird.
Apps & Websites

- Waarneming.nl: To keep track of which birds I spot (in Dutch)
- Vogelbescherming vogelgids: A pretty great online bird guide (in Dutch)
- Birdingplaces.eu: A spot on overview of all the great spots far away and close by
